
Lokayukta raids govt officials; DA worth Rs 29 cr unearthed
Bengaluru: A surprise raid by the Lokayukta police on eight officials on Tuesday in connection with disproportionate assets (DA) cases across Karnataka uncovered total assets worth Rs 29.61 crore. The searches were held in Bengaluru, Chikkaballapur, Kalaburagi, Bengaluru south, Mandya, Kodagu, Dharwad and Bidar districts. Officials discovered immoveable assets — 2 sites, 2 houses, farmland and garment factory — valued at Rs 5.86 crore. The searches revealed that she had Rs 30.87 lakh in cash, Rs 35.58 lakh worth of gold and silver ornaments, Rs 23.15 lakh worth of vehicles and Rs 5 lakh worth of other items. The others raided were Shivaraju M, hostel superintendent, BCM department, Maddur, Mandya (Rs 2.71 crore DA); H M Ranganath (retired), assistant engineer, GBA, Shivajinagar, Bengaluru (Rs 3.84 crore); Rajeshwari, AEE, Gescom, Kalaburagi (Rs 1.91 crore); H R Ramesh, municipal commissioner, Kodagu (Rs 1.78 crore); Kiran Baindur, AEE, Hescom, Dharwad (Rs 1.79 crore); Darshan Gowda G, FDA, DC office, Chikkaballapur (Rs 1.86 crore); Manik Rao, (rtd), agriculture officer, Bidar (Rs 2.51 crore).
