Mangaluru: A student who was seriously injured and was in coma after a parapet wall collapsed during a students union event in Mangaluru succumbed to the injuries later in the Saturday night, police said.According to the police, the deceased has been identified as one Mohammed Shamaz. Commissioner of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said following the death, Mangaluru South police have registered a case against the event organiser and the owner of the building for alleged negligence leading to death, based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s father.The case has been registered under Sections 106(1), 125(a), 125(b) and 290 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The incident occurred when the students had gathered during the programme of All College Students’ Association for the installation of its office-bearers at a hall in Emmekere.  Five students were injured in the incident. The seriously injured Shamaz was undergoing treatment but was declared dead later that night.
