PI, 3 constables suspended for dereliction of duty

Kalaburagi: Aland station police inspector (PI) Sharanabasappa Kodla, who had recently received the Chief Minister’s medal, and three police constables have been suspended on the charge of releasing seized vehicle loaded with Anna Bhagya rice, which was intended to sell in the black-market, by receiving a bribe and failing to register an FIR.North-Eastern Range IGP Shantanu Sinha suspended inspector Sharanabasappa Kodla while Superintendent of Police (SP) Adduru Srinivasalu issued order to suspend constables Hanamant, Mallikarjun, and Sayabanna for dereliction of duty in connection with the case.On September 27, an anonymous caller alerted the 112 helpline about the illegal sale of rice meant for distribution under the Anna Bhagya scheme. A lorry was intercepted at night and later released without legal action. The vehicle was brought back to Aland station from Akkalkot, and a case was registered following media reports.
