Video of KSRTC bus using mobile torch as headlight goes viral

Chikkamagaluru: A video clip of a KSRTC bus driver navigating the pitch dark Sringeri-Chikkamagaluru stretch with the help of a mobile phone torch, after its headlight stopped functioning, has gone viral on social media..The bus had reportedly left Sringeri at around 10 pm and, after travelling a short distance, its headlight stopped functioning. Despite this, the driver continued to drive the bus for some distance with the help of a mobile phone torch and parking lights.KSRTC to launch Rajahamsa bus service from Bengaluru to Bhagamandala from Oct 1The video, circulated on social media, claimed that the bus was driven without a functioning headlight all the way to Chikkamagaluru.However, KSRTC Chikkamagaluru Divisional Controller Basavaraj clarified that the bus was travelling from Sringeri to Chikkaballapur via Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Bengaluru.“The headlight developed a technical snag a short distance after Jayapura. The bus was stopped at Jayapura, which was nearby. The passengers were asked to alight and were shifted to a KGF depot bus. The bus later reached Chikkamagaluru in the morning, where the headlight was repaired before it proceeded to Chikkaballapur,” he added.
