
Gas leak triggers fire, six of family injured
Bengaluru: Six members of a family, including four children, were injured after an LPG cylinder leaked and triggered a fire at their rented house in Nayandahalli on Friday morning.The injured are Karilingappa, 50, his wife Lakshmamma, 43, their daughter Chaitra, 11, son Basava, 9, and three-year-old twins Geetha and Girija. Lakshmamma and one of the children are reportedly in critical condition, police said.Karilingappa, a native of Raichur, is a daily-wage labourer. He had come to Bengaluru with his family in search of work and was staying in a rented house in Vinayaka Layout.Bengaluru: Car falls into 12 ft ditch; passengers escape with minor injuriesA senior police officer said the incident occurred around 6 am when Lakshmamma tried to light the stove to cook. The leaked LPG is suspected to have caught fire, triggering a sudden blaze and loud explosion.Chandra Layout police are investigating whether the leak was from the cylinder, stove or connecting pipe. They are also examining the condition of the cylinder as part of the probe, the officer said.
