Expedite Raichur-Belagavi highway work: Naik

Raichur: MP G Kumar Naik met the officials of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) in New Delhi and appealed to expedite work on prominent highway projects in Karnataka, including Raichur-Belagavi.At the NHAI headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday, Naik discussed the progress and quality of various projects with NHAI Executive Director Anil Chowdhary and Ajay Gupta, General Manager overseeing projects in Karnataka.Package 7: Officials assured him that the process of preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Package 7 of the Raichur–Belagavi National Highway project will begin in November, based on the alignment finalised for the project.NHAI orders special quality checks on 17 under-construction highway projectsWith regard to packages 5 and 6, Naik observed that since the district administration has largely resolved the land acquisition issues concerning the two packages, construction work needs to be expedited. He also stressed that there should be no compromise on quality.He urged the authorities to take up the road project connecting Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka on priority. Since the land acquisition notification has already been issued and the survey completed, the project should be taken forward without further delay, he said.Naik also brought to officials’ attention quality-related issues in Packages 3 and 4 of the Surat–Chennai National Highway project. The officials said the issues were being examined and necessary action was being taken.Entry and exit facilitiesYadgir–Wadgera Road: With regard to the NH-150C highway, officials said the request to provide entry and exit facilities to the Yadgir–Wadgera road near Wadgera would be examined on technical and feasibility grounds before an appropriate decision was taken.Naik stressed the fact that Raichur–Belagavi and Surat–Chennai highway projects were crucial for connectivity, industrial development and public transportation in Kalyana Karnataka. He called for swift action to avoid unnecessary delays.
