Youth Congress leaders detained after staging protest, attempting to storm Karnataka BJP office

NEET protest: Youth Cong members detained

Bengaluru: Several Youth Congress leaders on Sunday were detained after staging a protest and attempting to storm the state BJP office in Malleswaram. The activists were condemning alleged irregularities in NEET and the series of suicides, and demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Indian Youth Congress national secretary Tarique Bagwan, office-bearers and students, were part of the protest, an official release said. Expressing outrage over the "failure" of the central government, the protesters raised slogans near the BJP office, condemning the "government’s approach of playing with the future of lakhs of students," the statement said. To contain the situation, police forcibly removed the protesters and took them into preventive custody. They were released later.
