Haveri: The medical officer of the Savanur Taluk Hospital in Haveri district, and another individual were named in an FIR on Monday after it emerged that they had tasked two patients with cleaning the hospital cesspit.The incident at the hospital occurred on August 28, and a newspaper carried a report on the same on Monday. Taking cognisance of the incident, Haveri Deputy Commissioner Vijay Mahantesh Danammanavar directed Tahsildar Ravikumar Gorvar to register an FIR at the Savanur police station.A notice was issued to medical officer Dr S Y Hiregowdar and nursing supervisor Vaneetha on Monday, and the duo has been summoned for questioning.’Cases like medals on my chest’: Rahul Gandhi to BJP over FIR against him over ‘purification’ rowHaveri District Health Officer Dr Nagaraj, who dispatched a copy of the FIR to the Commissioner of the Health Department, is learnt to have recommended suspending both Dr Hiregowdar and Vaneetha.Elaborating on the incident, Tahsildar Ravikumar said that, on August 28, two patients were asked to clean the Savanur Taluk Hospital cesspit between 11am and 12pm. β€œThe incident caught the attention of the Social Welfare Department, officials from which visited the hospital to ascertain the facts. Photographs and video footage of the incident were examined carefully,” the Tahsildar said.
