Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) will enforce restrictions on the movement of certain categories of vehicles on four city flyovers from September 4 as a part of measures to improve road safety and ease traffic congestion.According to the BTP, the move follows a review of accidents on flyovers, particularly those caused by variations in vehicle speeds. City Market traffic police said the restrictions had been enforced for the past two to three days to help motorists get accustomed to the new rules. Temporary flex banners have been installed and four traffic personnel will initially be deployed to enforce the restrictions.Peenya Elevated Corridor: Passenger autorickshaws and three-wheeler goods autorickshaws will not be permitted. Heavy and medium goods vehicles will be restricted during peak hours. The police said flex banners had been installed and one ASI, one constable and two home guards would be deployed.Bengaluru East Division police step up ‘BEDA BRO’, ‘RISE’ checks near educational institutionsDouble-Decker Flyover: Only heavy goods vehicles will face a 24-hour restriction. All goods vehicles will be restricted from 6 am to 10 pm. Hebbal traffic police said it may take three to four days for motorists to fully adjust to the restrictions. Six to seven personnel will be deployed and violators will be fined as directed by senior officers.
