Bengaluru: Candidates who cleared the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) examination for the recruitment of veterinary officers on merit on Friday urged the government not to order a re-examination, saying they should not be made to suffer for the alleged malpractice committed by a few candidates.Speaking to the media in Bengaluru, a few of candidates, including three women said they had spent more than three years preparing for the examination and had secured their selection through their hard work. They said a fresh examination would put them under unnecessary mental and financial pressure and would amount to punishing candidates who had no role in the alleged irregularities.KPSC ‘scam’: Government suspends arrested IAS officer Gyanendra Gangwar The candidates said they were living under constant uncertainty over their appointments following the allegations of large-scale malpractice in the recruitment process. They appealed to the government to protect the interests of candidates who were selected fairly instead of cancelling the entire selection process. They urged the authorities to identify and exclude candidates found to have benefited from malpractice and proceed with the appointment of those who were not involved in the alleged wrongdoing. “We request the government not to conduct a re-examination. Those found to be involved in malpractice can be identified and removed, while the untainted candidates should be given appointment orders without further delay. I was expecting my appointment order this month,” one of the women candidates said. They also expressed concern over the prolonged delay in the recruitment process, saying many selected candidates had made career and personal decisions expecting to receive their appointment orders. They appealed to the government to bring an early resolution to the issue and provide relief to candidates who had cleared the examination fairly.KPSC scam: CID conducts mahazar at key suspect Basavraj Kannale’s house in BengaluruThe candidates also referred to the Supreme Court’s guidelines on dealing with recruitment irregularities and urged the government to adopt a similar approach by separating the tainted candidates from those who were genuinely selected. The KPSC examination was conducted for the recruitment of 400 veterinary officers. Of the 329 candidates selected, FIRs have so far been registered against 29 candidates in connection with the alleged irregularities.
