New Commissioner of Railway Safety

Bengaluru: V Venkatasubramanian took over as the Commissioner of Railway Safety, Southern Circle, Bengaluru, on September 7, according to an official statement. His jurisdiction covers the South Western Railway, Southern Railway, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited, Chennai Metro Rail Limited, and Kochi Metro Rail Limited.SWR GM inspects coaching depot near KSR Bengaluru stationA 1993-batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE), he has been associated with electric loco maintenance and operations, as well as construction and maintenance of traction distribution. Before assuming charge, he was the executive director in the Railway Board, in charge of electric and diesel locomotives and crew. He succedes Anant Madhukar Chowdhary, who retired on superannuation in February. Venkatasubramanian is expected to inspect and certify Namma Metro’s elevated Pink Line for commercial operations later this month.
