C&D waste to be managed scientifically: KSPCB

Construction and demolition (C&D) waste, a significant contributor to air pollution in Bengaluru, will be managed scientifically, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) said.The board has set up a centralised online portal to register stakeholders, including waste producers, storage facility operators, recyclers and collection points established by local authorities.Krishna Byre Gowda conducts surprise inspection of solid waste management arrangements in BNCCAs the coordinating agency, KSPCB has written to the Greater Bengaluru Authority and Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited to ensure strict implementation of the C&D Waste Management Rules issued last year. Instructions will also be issued to stakeholder departments across the state, it said.Meanwhile, the Board has granted consent to operate to two companies — one in Kannur village, Bidarahalli hobli, in east Bengaluru, and another in Chikkajala in north Bengaluru.
