
Untouchability case registered
Lingasugur (Raichur): Following complaints of untouchability being practised at an eatery in Eechanala village in the taluk, Raichur, a case was registered against its owner on Wednesday.Carrying out purification at Haldwani rally site was an act of ‘untouchability’: KhargeA video showing an employee of the eatery pouring water into the cupped palms of a customer while holding the jug perceptibly away from the latter had gone viral on social media. Subsequently, Eechanala resident Amarappa had lodged a complaint with the Social Welfare Department. Consequently, the departmentβs Assistant Director Ravindra Uppar registered a complaint under the provisions of SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act against Shivappa Sharanappa Hadapada, the eatery owner.
