CM unveils upgraded BMTC app; now book bus & metro tickets in one go

Bengaluru: Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday unveiled the ‘Namma BMTC Mobile App 2.0’, which offers comprehensive city public transport services in one single app. The application, an upgrade over the previous version of the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation’s (BMTC) app, integrates ticketing, digital payments, bus passes, journey planning and live bus tracking. For the first time, passengers can now purchase metro and bus tickets on a single digital platform.In another first, passengers can also use the National Common Mobility Cards (NCMCs) while travelling on BMTC buses. To facilitate this, the bus corporation has upgraded its Electronic Ticketing Machines (ETMs). Namma Metro already issues and accepts NCMCs, which can be used across participating transport systems in the country. Namma BMTC 2.0: Packed with featuresMetro tickets: Passengers can also directly buy metro QR tickets, as well as tickets for both BMTC buses and metro The new BMTC appLive bus tracking: Passengers can access real-time bus location, estimated arrival time, route and stop-wise information Nearby bus stops: The app identifies nearby bus stops and provides information on buses operating from those stops and available services Journey Planner: By entering the origin and destination, passengers can view available travel options by bus, metro, or a combination of both Bus passes: Passengers can purchase different BMTC passes, including Express Pass, Ordinary Service Pass, Express Extension Pass, Vajra Gold Pass, Ordinary Extension Pass, Vayu Vajra Pass and NICE Road Pass. Kannada and English language support: Headings, labels, bus stop names and receipts can be viewed both in Kannada and English. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bmtc.bmtcavls.two.RECD to cut pollution from old vehiclesChief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday unveiled the Retrofit Emission Control Device (RECD), which promises to cut pollution from old diesel vehicles. The Transport Department said RECD was the first such technology in India. It claimed that the RECD would cut particulate matter, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions from old, BS-3 and BS-4 diesel vehicles by 90%. There is no clarity on when it will be rolled out.
