Pensions of 23 lakh beneficiaries withheld

Tumakuru: The pensions of as many as 23 lakh beneficiaries have been withheld in the state, Deputy Chief Minister Parameshwara has said.Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Parameshwara said that during verification it came to light that taxpayers, persons not meeting age criteria, and government employees were found to be getting pension under various schemes. Karnataka govt raises income ceiling for social security pensionsThe annual income ceiling for getting pension has been increased from Rs 32,000 to Rs 1.20 lakh. The beneficiaries have been asked to furnish documents for restoration of the benefit, he added.
