New Delhi: A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable suffered a minor injury to his right elbow after a protester allegedly attacked him with a knife during an NSUI protest at Jantar Mantar here on Monday, officials said. The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress, protested in the New Delhi district, demanding the resignation and arrest of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over allegations of electoral irregularities.CISF jawan opens fire, kills 4 personnel, including assistant commandant in J&K’s KathuaOfficials said the CISF constable, identified as Bikram Kumar, deployed at the protest site for law and order duty, was allegedly attacked by a protester while he was taking him away from near a barricade.The protester was detained, and legal action is being initiated, police said.Speaking to reporters, CISF constable Bikram said the attacker appeared to target his neck, but he managed to move away, resulting in the knife slashing his hand.”I was taking the protester from near the barricade, and then he slashed me with the knife. It was intended to slash near my neck, but I was saved, and instead it slashed my hand,” Kumar said.Police took the injured constable to RML Hospital.
