
CJP seeks KPSC overhaul, plans statewide student campaign
Bengaluru: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Friday called for an overhaul of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) recruitment process and said it would organise students protesting alleged irregularities in State-level examinations.CJP co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka said the organisation had begun meeting student delegations over complaints relating to recruitment examinations and would stand in solidarity with candidates affected by alleged paper leaks.“Some of these state service commissions really need an overhaul,” Ranka said during a press interaction in Bengaluru. He said the concerns were not limited to Karnataka and that students in other states like Maharashtra were also seeking reforms in public service examinations.CJP visits four govt schools in Bengaluru, flags teacher shortage, infrastructure woesReferring to the veterinary officer examination, Ranka said CJP had received messages from students alleging demands for money in connection with posts. He said an inquiry was underway and that the party was closely following the developments. “We will not let this government get away with any more exam scams,” he said. Ranka said they had met student delegations associated with the veterinary officer examination as well as the paralegal examination. Ranka said the organisation intended to move beyond meeting delegations and mobilise students on the ground.The party also said it would expand its activities across Karnataka, with a campaign covering all 31 districts. Ranka said the objective was to bring accountability at different levels and build a decentralised organisation.CJP’s school assessment campaign also highlighted poor sanitation and infrastructure in government schools in Bengaluru. Ranka said he had visited four schools in Yeshwanthpur, Varthur, Marathahalli and JP Nagar over two days. Responding to questions about whether the organisation’s school assessment was restricted to Bengaluru, Ranka said teams were already visiting schools in other parts of Karnataka. He appealed to residents to report government schools in their localities that they considered unsafe or poorly maintained.
