CM pays tributes to martyrs on Police Commemoration Day

Bengaluru: Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Wednesday participated in the Police Commemoration Day programme in Bengaluru.He was accompanied by Home Minister Priyank Kharge, Additional Chief Secretary (Home Department) Rajender Kumar Kataria and Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG & IGP) MA Saleem.They paid their respects by offering wreaths to the police officers and personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty last year during the programme at the Martyrs’ Garden located in the City Armed Reserve (CAR) Headquarters on Mysore Road.Karnataka taking steps to fill 7,925 vacant police posts, says CM ShivakumarSpeaking during the programme, Shivakumar said that the government always stands in support of the family members of those who lost their lives in the line of duty.‘Gratitude to great souls’“I have not come here merely to commemorate the police martyrs. I am here to express my gratitude to those great souls who dedicated their lives for the sake of our lives. This day started in memory of those who died a heroic death in the attack by Chinese soldiers in Ladakh in 1959,” the chief minister said.“Today is also a very special day in our state. We are trying to preserve our heritage by celebrating Dasara as our state festival. The asset of this country is our culture. So, before the start of the cultural festivities, we are all paying our respects in your presence to all the great martyrs of the country who protected us,” he added.He also remembered the six policemen from the state who lost their lives in service. “On this occasion, I am also remembering the six police personnel of the state who were martyred in the past year. I am also making it clear that our government will always stand in support of the family members of the martyrs,” he added.
