Mumbai: In a shocking incident, the 14-year-old daughter of the private assistant of NCP (SP) legislator Rohit Pawar was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Baramati in Pune district on Sunday. The girl, a ninth-grade student, has gone missing after an argument with her mother at home since around 3 pm on Saturday, initial investigations said. The body of Ajit Dashavatare was found near the family’s house in Sai Ganesh Nagar in Rui in the Baramati town around 8 am on Sunday. The post-mortem report is awaited. Forensic teams collected evidence from the site where the body was found and Dashavatare’s house. There is no politics here, a girl has died, there should be proper investigations,” said Pawar, who is an MLA from Karjat Jamkhed and grand-nephew of NCP (SP) supremo Sharad Pawar and nephew of party’s working president and Baramati MP Supriya Sule. “Dashavatare’s daughter has been missing since Saturday. A complaint was filed and a search was carried out. However, the body was found in the morning,” said Pawar. Deputy Superintendent of Police Chaitanya Kadam, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer personally overseeing the investigations, said that the girl left home after an argument with her mother. “The girl did not have a mobile phone and used her mother’s phone. She used to chat with a boy on that phone. The mobile phone, CDRs, and CCTV footages are being examined,” Kadam said.According to him, the police were investigating the case from all possible angles.During the search operation, police found the girl’s slippers on the terrace of an adjacent building. “The terrace door was also found closed,” Kadam said.Police are examining the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and death, including her movements after she left home. “There are some injury marks, about which we will know in detail once the post-mortem report is available,” the SDPO said. “We are examining the CCTVs. It is being checked whether she jumped from the building herself or if something else happened,” he added.
