IIMB ties up with Coursera, Udemy for new courses

Bengaluru: IIMBx, the digital-learning arm of IIM Bangalore, has tied up with Coursera, and Udemy to offer new courses on Coursera.A subset of IIMBx’s catalogue of about 170 courses will also be offered individually on Coursera. The offerings include courses in business strategy, fintech, marketing and data-driven decision-making.The companies did not disclose financial terms or a first-year learner target.How can non-IIM graduates build global careers: The power of ‘career capital’ over placementsAddressing a press conference on Thursday, Anthony Salcito, Coursera’s global head of enterprise, said Coursera and Udemy together have 65 million learners in India representing about 930 enterprise customers.Globally, the platforms have 300 million learners and more than 12,000 enterprise customers, he said. Salcito said India ranks first globally in generative AI course consumption and enrollments across Coursera and Udemy.He said India has recorded 14 million generative AI course enrolments, with 12 people enrolling every minute, more than double the pace a year earlier.The number of generative AI courses available increased from 5,200 to about 9,700 over the past year, he said. Salcito said 97% of employers in India told Coursera that employees hired with micro-credentials outperform those without them.“Skills are being displaced, in some cases, by AI. Not humans, but skills,” Salcito said, pointing to the need for workers to retrain as jobs change.The companies also presented Project Helix, which uses AI to personalise learning paths, assess skills and connect training with business outcomes. Helix is expected to be broadly available to enterprise customers in the first half of 2027.IIMBx chief executive Sitaraman Shankar said the specialisations would be listed over the next few months.
