INDIA bloc leaders to march to Supreme Court today, submit memorandum to CJI

I.N.D.I.A-bloc leaders fortify ranks to visit CJI today

New Delhi: Intensifying their protest against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, the I.N.D.I.A bloc is all set to mobilise members for a march to the Supreme Court on Monday to submit a memorandum to Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant, requesting his intervention.Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee, who was to leave for Kolkata, has decided to remain in Delhi after she was detained on Saturday while attempting to march to Jantar Mantar. She said she had a programme in Kolkata on Monday, but would stay back at Rahul Gandhi’s request to participate in Monday’s march.CJP stir against CEC: Sonam Wangchuk warns of fresh fast if Delhi protesters not released by Oct 11Congress general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal appealed to "every Indian concerned about the survival of Indian democracy" to join them in Monday’s "massive" protest march against the nationwide "vote chori", which he said had been "orchestrated by the Modi-Shah regime".Venugopal said in Keralam’s Alapuzha: "Modi is behaving like a leader nearing his downfall. He is afraid of the Opposition’s protests."He said on X:Β "Yesterday, we held a comprehensive meeting with various leaders to prepare for this march. I.N.D.I.A MPs, leaders, workers and all concerned citizens will be holding a huge protest march against Gyanesh & Co, and a delegation of our senior leaders will submit a memorandum to the CJI for his intervention in this crisis. Gyanesh must go. There will be no backing down [sic]."Β Sources said I.N.D.I.A-bloc parties have instructed their state units for mobilisation for the march, which will be the fifth protest since October 6, when it first attempted to march to the Election Commission of India (ECI).They also attempted to march to Jantar Mantar, besides holding a silent protest at Raj Ghat and meeting President Droupadi Murmu to submit a memorandum earlier. After meeting the President on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi said, "On Monday, this whole group will take a memorandum for the CJI and go to the Supreme Court. We are trying to open all the paths, and we will not leave any path unexplored."Sources said the decision to make the Supreme Court the next destination for their protest was part of a cleverly-crafted strategy to infuse symbolism into the Opposition’s high-pitched political battle against the ruling BJP, which it accuses of indulging in vote theft.
