DC hears problems of residential school students

Kalaburagi: Students of about 15 government residential schools in the district directly spoke to Deputy Commissioner Ikram Sharif with regard to the quality of food served to them in their hostels and also threw light on basic facilities provided in the residential schools.DC Sharif spoke to these students belonging to classes 6 to 10, virtually and received representations from them on Thursday. He inquired about the quality of breakfast, lunch and dinner served in the residential schools. The students have sought installation of Reverse Osmosis units to ensure supply of pure drinking water. They stressed the need to construct the compound wall as part of their safety measures, apart from setting up libraries in their residential schools. POCSO case accused who escaped police custody arrested again in KalaburgiResponding to the students, DC Ikram Sharif said that focus will be given to maintain cleanliness of the residential schools and surrounding areas. “Quality of the food supply is our responsibility, and the students need not worry about it. You have written the competitive examination and more time has to be given for hard practice and study to build a better career. Priority should also be given to score good marks in the annual exam,” he advised.Directing the officials concerned to provide a list of facilities required by the residential schools, including benches, electricity, building repairs and an RO plant, he said that measures will be taken to provide financial assistance from Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) for this purpose.Social Welfare Department Joint Director Preeti Doddamani, District Minority Welfare Officer and BCM Officer-in-Charge Sangamesh were present.
