Prof courses: 7.5% quota for rural govt school students

Bengaluru: The students of government schools in rural areas will get 7.5% reservation for admission to various professional courses including engineering and medical studies. Karnataka govt issues order implementing free bus pass scheme for studentsA gazette notification has been issued in this connection following a recent decision of the government. Children who have studied in government schools from class 1 to class 10 are eligible for this benefit.At present, 15% of seats in professional courses are already reserved for rural students. Now, through an amendment to the rule, half of those seats (7.5%) will be reserved specifically for government school students.
