Street vendors file plaint against west corporation officials 

Bengaluru: Karnataka Pragathipara Beedi Vyaparigala Sangha (KPBVS) has lodged a complaint with the Vijayanagar police against the Bengaluru west city corporation (BWCC) officials.According to representatives of KPBVS, on the night of Aug 28, officials of the Vijayanagar sub division of BWCC went to Vijayanagar market, pushed vendors, threatened them and illegally seized carts of vendors, including senior citizens.“All these vendors had ID cards. Now, vendors have lost goods worth thousands of rupees,” they said.Honorary doctorate for official: Complaint against Nrupatunga varsityThe complaint said officials had violated section 19 of street vendors’ Act, which says that no goods should be seized without giving a list of items seized, section 27, which says authorities should not harass vendors having ID cards.”Given that officials seized carts and goods without receipt or notice and given that they are now missing, the Karnataka Pragathipara Beedhi Vyaparigala Sanghatane has requested Vijayanagar police to lodge a complaint of theft against officials. We sought police protection against harassment,” a statement by the union said.
