Bengaluru: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Sunday (August 30) arrested IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar in connection with the alleged irregularities in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC). Top sources told DH that the arrest was formalised in the afternoon. “He was questioned for two days but was non-cooperative. Based on prima facie evidence, he has been placed under arrest. Further probe will be undertaken,” the sources said. Gangwar was questioned on Friday and Saturday before being arrested. He was summoned after the CID launched search operations on August 25. KPSC ‘scam’: CID grills IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar for nine hoursGangwar served as Controller of Examination (CoE) in the KPSC from February 2024 to March 2026 before being transferred as Director, MSME, in June. He was presumed missing, following which Home Minister Priyank Kharge clarified that he was on leave. Gangwar was also issued notices by the Enforcement Directorate after he was raided by the Central agency. The anti-financial fraud agency is also probing the alleged irregularities. Gangwar is yet to respond to the ED notices. KPSC, which conducts competitive exams for government jobs in Karnataka, is facing scrutiny following allegations of irregularities in the final selection of the Veterinary Officersβ Recruitment Exam.
