KSTDC to roll out ‘Mayura Ruchi on Wheels’ food vans at tourist spots

Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) will launch ‘Mayura Ruchi on Wheels’, its first mobile food service initiative, to provide clean, quality and tasty food to tourists at major destinations in the state, Tourism Minister K J George said on Saturday.The initiative will take the food experience of KSTDC’s Mayura Hotels beyond hotel premises and closer to high-footfall tourist locations.In first phase, food vans are proposed at Hampi, Madikeri, Jog Falls, Mysuru, Nandi Hills and key tourist spots in Bengaluru.KSTDC currently operates 24 Mayura Hotels. Officials said that at several destinations, hotels are located away from main visitor zones and mobile service is intended to bridge that gap.KSTDC to roll out ‘Mayura Ruchi on Wheels’ food vans at tourist spots The vans will serve popular breakfast items, snacks, meals and selected regional specialities from different parts of Karnataka.The corporation said the menu would also introduce visitors to the state’s diverse culinary traditions.Tourism Department, KSTDC, and JLR to sponsor jerseys of Karnataka cricket teams: K J George“A good tourism experience must include access to good food. Through ‘Mayura Ruchi on Wheels’, we want to take the taste and quality of Mayura Hotels directly to visitors at major tourist spots,” George said.KSTDC chairman M Srinivas said that the mobile food service was the corporation’s first such initiative and that it was aimed at ensuring easy access to Mayura’s food at crowded locations.“By giving preference to local dishes, the initiative can create jobs and business opportunities for local communities,” Srinivas said. Tourism secretary Ram Prasath Manohar said it was an integral part of tourism experience.He said the service would extend KSTDC’s hospitality beyond hotels and bring together local food culture, quality service and tourist convenience on a single platform.
