2 Police Officers Among 7 Shot in Minneapolis

At least seven people were shot, one of them fatally, in downtown Minneapolis on Wednesday afternoon, officials said. Two police officers were among the victims, authorities said.The focus of a large police response was an apartment building at 15 E. Grant St., about half a block from the Minneapolis Convention Center. As the doors opened, she pressed the button to head back to her apartment on the eighth floor.”Oh, lord, it just felt like the shooting was on every floor,” she said. “I could feel it every time the elevator went up.”Agnew, who moved into the building in April, said she stayed in her apartment until police officers escorted her outside. “I just thank God that I was able to get into my apartment,” she said.Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota said on the social platform X that his “public safety team is responding to a shooting that took place downtown Minneapolis this afternoon.””State officials are on the ground to support local law enforcement,” he said, “and we will share more information as it becomes available.”In September 2025, two men were killed inside the apartment building that was the focus of the police response Wednesday. In that episode, authorities said, two men were fatally shot by a third man who “ambushed” them from behind after they got off a second-floor elevator, according to The Minnesota Star Tribune. Both men were shot in the neck.Minneapolis has been on edge after federal immigration agents shot and killed two protesters, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, in separate incidents in January. Scenes of violent unrest and confrontations between protesters and federal agents in the aftermath of those shootings captured national attention.
