Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has freed India from policy paralysis, the compulsions of coalition politics and governments suffering from weak decision-making, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday. “In 12 years, from being the Fragile-5 in 2014 to Top-5 now, India has seen a massive transformation under Modi’s leadership…The first quarter figures that have just been released show that with 7.8 per cent GDP growth, we are at the top among major economies,” Shah told a news conference in Mumbai.“For the first time in 12 years, the people of this country have been introduced to a foreign policy with a backbone. Whether it’s our defense policy or our foreign policy, its foundation is “India First,” India’s interests are paramount for us,” he said. During his three-day-visit to Mumbai, Shah announced the one-month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan of the BJP-led NDA from September 17-October 17 — coinciding with his 76th birthday on September 17 and completion of 25 years of continuous public service on October 6 as Gujarat Chief Minister and then as Prime Minister. India should aim to become global leader in lab-grown diamonds, jewellery sector: Amit Shah“Ever since Modi became the Prime Minister of the country, he introduced himself to the people of this country as Pradhan Sevak from the ramparts of the Red Fort,” he said. “And in just 12 years, the country has freed itself from Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir , Naxalism, and insurgency in the North-East—these three scourges, which had been a threat to the country’s internal security for nearly five decades. Twenty-five million people have risen above the poverty line. And most importantly, today the country’s 1.4 billion people and youth have moved forward with a resolve and confidence that by 2047, India will be number one in every field in the entire world and will become a developed country,” Shah said. Speaking of people’s support, he said, “For three consecutive terms, NDA governments have repeatedly received mandates in elections. In a democracy, public certification comes through the electoral mandate, based on performance, outcomes and delivery.””Over these 25 years, the people of the country have repeatedly given Modi a mandate at the state and Centre levels. After a long gap since the early years after Independence, Modi became the Prime Minister to be elected three times. I believe this is an indication of his achievements over these 25 years,” he said.
