New Delhi: The fifth edition of SEMICON India 2026, the country’s premier semiconductor and electronics conference and exhibition, will be held from September 17 to 19 at Yashobhoomi (India International Convention & Expo Centre) at Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the event on September 17.Jointly organised by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and global industry body SEMI, the three-day event carries the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.”It aims to position India as a trusted player in the global semiconductor value chain amid rising demand for resilient supply chains, the statement said. More than 600 exhibitors, including 300 international companies, will occupy 15,000 square metres. The exhibition will feature six country pavilions, 12 state pavilions, a startup showcase with around 40 firms, a student hackathon, workforce development pavilion and Women’s Forum. A new ‘Sand to Silicon to Systems’ experience will highlight the full value chain from materials and manufacturing to advanced packaging, design and electronics systems.The conference programme includes keynotes and sessions on manufacturing technology, artificial intelligence, supply-chain resilience, advanced packaging, chip design, research, startups and talent. India aims to train 1 lakh more semiconductor engineers under Semicon 2.0Six international country roundtables, a women empowerment session and discussions on industry association collaboration are also planned, the statement said.Leading companies expected to participate include ASML, Applied Materials, Micron, Tata Electronics, Infineon, NXP, Lam Research and others.The event comes as India advances its semiconductor programme. Of the 12 projects approved under Semicon India, three have begun commercial production. The Union Cabinet has cleared Semicon 2.0 to further accelerate the ecosystem. The government has also provided electronic design automation tools to over 400 academic institutions and 105 startups, while approving 24 startups under the Design Linked Incentive scheme.India’s semiconductor demand is projected to rise from about $50 billion currently to around $103 billion by 2030, against a global market expected to exceed $2 trillion. SEMICON India 2026 seeks to drive partnerships, investment and talent development to support India’s goal of becoming a global hub for semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, the statement added.
