Mysuru: Upa Lokayukta B Veerappa has registered suo motu cases against Mandya District Health and Family Welfare Officer (DHO), government doctors officials of Primary Health Centre (PHC) of Arakere village and other officials, for misuse of the PHC for the celebration of the birthday of a former MLA, based on media reports and followup investigation by Mandya district Lokayukta Police.The Upa Lokayukta has directed filing of cases against Mandya DHO Dr Bettaswamy, Srirangapatna Taluk Health Officer (THO) Dr Chethana, in-charge administrator of the PHC Dr Thibbegowda and Panchayat Development Officer of Arakere Grama Panchayat M Ravikumar, in an order issued on September 9.Three of family killed in road accident in MandyaThe cases follow media coverage of the celebration of the 80th birthday of former MLA Vijayalakshmi Bandisiddegowda, who is also the mother of present MLA and CESC Chairman Ramesh Babu Bandisiddegowda, at Arakere PHC, in Srirangapatna taluk, on August 21.Speeding tanker hits bike, kills three of a family in Karnataka’s MandyaIt was reported that the PHC was used for the celebrations and the chamber of a woman doctor of the pediatrics department was given to women theatre artistes, to be used as a green room (for putting up make-up). The reports were also accompanied by the reels of the artistes.Following the reports, Upa Lokayuktha Veerappa had directed the Mandya district Lokayukta Police to investigate the case. Thus the Mandya Lokayukta Police Inspector had submitted a report on September 5. The accused in the case have been summoned for a hearing before the Upa Lokayukta on October 5.
